Georges St.Pierre was interviewed recently by CBS Sports and dropped a nice little quote that pretty much nails the argument that he's not a confident fighter shut when GSP says he's ready to be crowned the next UFC Welterweight Champion at UFC 79: Nemesis.
Q: You're going after the title again. Is there a different feeling going after it now compared to when you were first moving up the ranks and chasing it?
GSP: Absolutely there is a difference. With me I taste the ultimate glory and I taste the ultimate humiliation by losing to a guy I was suppose to beat when the odds was like 12-1. So I know I want and I know what I don't want and this is loss is the best thing that ever happened to me, it made me a way better fighter and a way more serious athlete and more professional fighter. Right now I cannot be any better than I am right now, I'm at the top of my game and I think that loss was for the best. I think right now I'm more mature, I'm only 26 but gained a lot of maturity with what happened recently and I'm ready to be crowned world champion and stay there for a long time.

Good to hear from GSP. He better have his head on right because I couldn't sit through another smug Hughes victory routine. Punch him once for me, GSP!!!!
ReplyDeleteGSP/Hughes will be the fight of the year.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am partial to GSP, Hughes isn't a push over by any means which is why this fight has the potential to lift MMA and the UFC into the stratosphere of popularity in 2008... more so than Liddell & Ortiz last year ay UFC 66.
