Matt Hughes: Tool of the Day!

Matt Hughes was at UFC 69 in Houston, Texas at ringside visibly and audibly cheering on and for Matt Serra when he won the UFC Welterweight Championship. Hughes could be heard saying, "I love it, I love it!". That's not what makes Hughes a Tool though.

What makes Hughes the Tool of the Day is the fact that he participated in his own forum that he rarely ever participates in only to spout off on some likely future match-ups with the intention of avoiding GSP altogether suggesting that GSP will always be around for his rematch.

"I tell you that before that fight was even over I went up to Dana White and pulled his shoulder and said "THATS MY FIGHT, THATS MY FIGHT". I was a little pumped at the time. I would guess that I would fight Matt, Kos would fight GSP, Diego would fight Finch. Just my oppinion. I wanted Matt to win so bad. I knew that was the only way I would ever fight him. I can wait to fight GSP. He will always be around to get my rematch. Thanks for the support, matt"

Ok Matt, you are a Tool for so many reasons it's hard to pick just one so the best choice aside from you referring to Jon Fitch as "Finch" is that fact that you 'outted' yourself as a coward by admitting that you want to avoid GSP and also the fact that you acted like a little bitch around the octagon with your, "I love it, I love it", classless behaviour unbecoming of a professional fighter.

I would expect that behaviour from an MMA fan, certainly not a UFC fighter and former 9-time UFC champion.

Why the hell should you fight Serra instead of a rematch with GSP?

Matt Hughes, you are a disgrace, a dick and a TOOL!

  1. anyone who believes Matt said that is stupid bcause if you read it, why would Matt say he's going to fight Matt? Read the quote, its obvious Matt didn't say that crap...

  2. Oh, Matt Hughes wrote it alright. Read the other 19 posts he has made then draw your own conclusions.

Hughes is classless and that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has ever spent 10 minutes around him.

    "I love it!"

  3. The whole Pierre - Serra fight left me speechless. This seems to be the year of the upset. First Randy and now Matt. GSP looked terrible last night. I hope that he can get his shit together and make a strong comeback and recapture the title once again. I can't guess as to why he was KO'ed so quickly by someone that is so much smaller and less complete than he is. Serra looked good though and won fair and square.

I can't say that I am impressed with Hughes' behaviour either, but in all reality he pretty much has his title back now. He is the #1 contender supposedly and I am sure that there will be a Hughes/Serra fight sometime before the fall. But then again who knows? Maybe Serra will mop the mat with Hughes in the end.

I've lurked around the Matt-Hughes.com forums more than once and I can say that some of his fans are complete boneheads. I have seen the occasional post made by Hughes himself, but they are very rare. I'll have to make a trip over there and do some more lurkin' it seems!

  5. "He will always be around to get my rematch." - He says he'll fight St. Pierre again. How is that avoiding?

And the reason he said it, is that Serra probably won't be around and he wants to fight him.

Also, I like St. Pierre, but I also loved the outcome of this fight. This main event would have been a true bust if everything had gone the way everyone expected. Very boring.
And the underdog story is really cool too.

This was simply a very, very bad blog post.

  6. Yes! I love it too. I love the fact that Serra is going to beat Hughs in the stand up and then is going to submit the meat head on the ground. I used to be a Hughs fan, until I learned what a cocky asshole he is. Serra liked GSP and gave him a beating. Serra can't stand Hughs... I love it!

  7. Sebastian, Hughes is a tool. Didn't you pick up on Hughes' natural arrogance in the quote you quoted?

What has Hughes said about avenging his loss to GSP?

Hughes' nuthuggers are all around and one day they will realize that Hughes isn't all that... just watch his fight against Chris Lytle again for more proof.

    Hughes is a TOOL!

If it's such a bad blog post, I challenge you to make a better one. Simply post your gem right here on any topic and I will post it to the world for their opinion.

Oops, sorry, I was acting like Matt Hughes there... a Tool!

  8. The Hughes-St. Pierre rubber match is bound to happen. Because of their standing in the division and because of the Zuffa brass' love for a trilogy. Hughes-Serra however, was very unlikely to happen. Until Serra beat St. Pierre...
Hence: "I wanted Matt to win so bad. I knew that was the only way I would ever fight him. I can wait to fight GSP. He will always be around to get my rematch."

You just want to hate on the guy. Actually, that's fine. It's just when you try to make a bullshit case for it gets ridiculous.

Now that I've read your reply to my first post, I realize that I shouldn't have made that post in the first place. I was coming at it from the wrong angle. Blogs are just blogs after all.

  9. matt hughes reaction was pathetic, him and sherk were acting like kids cuz they both got rocked by gsp and know they probably dont stand a chance against him so watching serra beat him was at close as it gets for them...why else would matt say "i can wait to fight gsp" a true champ would want to avenge his loss...not avoid the guy who took his title...gsp was beating him in the first match and did beat him the second time they went at it...hes afraid of facing him a 3rd time cuz he knows wut will happen.

  10. matts record speaks for its self how does any one have so many fights by being a dodger his win over gsp 1,it doesnt matter if he was getting beat he capitalized on a gsp mistake{and won} same with serra isn't this mma you really cant count anyone in any fight

  11. I used to be a big fan of Hughes but after watching his attitude change in the last 2 years I can honestly say I have no interest in him as a fighter any longer. He used to be humble - this is clearly (to me) no longer the case.

After his near-loss to BJ Penn (and yes, he almost lost) he was an arrogant prick. He acted like he dominated the fight and quite frankly, he was getting his ass kicked. Badly. BJ Penn most likely really did separate his ribs and anyone that has experienced such an injury (I have) knows that no matter how tough you want to be, if the core is damaged, you're in trouble.

Most important in that fight is how BJ Penn illustrated that Huges' stand up game is TERRIBLE.

Enter GSP. He did well at the start of his first fight with Hughes, he made a mistake, he lost. He handled that well. At this point GSP is pretty confident he can take Hughes (we all know GSP is amazing) and Hughes sees it to. So Hughes starts the smack-talk. Hughes slanders GSP, talks trash about his heritage; yet has a hissy-fit when GSP frankly states in the cage post BJ Penn, that he didn't think that fight showed Hughes to be very good. What a bang-on statement! Hughes was TERRIBLE!

GSP beats Hughes, GSP is humble, thankful, Hughes makes excuses. Typical of Miletich it seems (i.e. Tim Silva).

So GSP loses. Big deal. He handled the loss with dignity, and in MMA everyone knows that anything can happen. Each of these men hits like a bus and the human head isn't meant to take it. Still, no excuses from GSP - even Serra was dignified - but Hughes, like the schoolyard bully who was outed by his peers is trapsing around acting like a complete tool.

This blog is bang-on. From a once big fan of Hughes (I was for years) I now believe he's a childish baby.

It's ironic. He always spouts off about his Christian ideals yet doesn't seem to adhere to some of its basic principles.

GSP is a stellar fighter. He'll be back in form in no time. Hopefully we'll get to see him destroy (because that's exactly what he did) Hughes again.

  12. Another problem with Hughes is that Dana White loves him (maybe this isn't really his problem). Let us not forget that Carlos Newton knocked both himself and Hughes out at the same time and yet somehow there has been a moratorium on mentioning this fact.

To give proper respect to Matt Serra, GSP and Hughes should fight for the right to have a shot at the title. Then we can all watch yet again as GSP is way too fast for Hughes and beats his ass with percision and explosiveness all over the octagon standing or otherwise.

GSP is a true gentleman, he is humble in the way he wins and the way he loses. If not that he is honest, GSP said he could beat Hughes if he faught him again and he did. Matt Hughes is an oger.

  13. Look, i realize this post is like over a year old now. but heres the deal with being a cocky asshole when your 9-time champion, or for that matter, when you've never had a fight. YOU HAVE TO BE COCKY. You don't win fights by saying "i hope i win" you say "he aint gonna fucking beat me" i say it everytime i fight, so piss off. and this isnt queensburry (or w/e) rules, so class? defined a little differently here. stfu christ. pussy fans sit there and watch it have no idea what its like to step up and fight. so stfu up. Hughes is a damn good fighter. Serra is a damn good fighter and GSP is a damn good fighter. shit heads
