Why Pitbull dog fights are banned when UFC fights are not?

Are you having a hard time selling the idea of sitting down with your wife/girlfriend/family to watch a wholesome event like UFC 67 - All or Nothing this coming February 3rd?

Well, you're not alone and the question I found at Yahoo Answers is a more accurate indication of the public's perception of MMA in North America.

Here are some of my favorite responses to the question:

Let's see...because UFC involves humans who have the rational choice and ability to decide if they want to do this, whereas dogs do not?Because the dogs maim each other to the point of death, whereas humans can communicate that they are done?

Animals and humans are different. Pitbull fights are more brutal and occasionally results in death to the dog. Not one single UFC fighter has died or been seriously injured unlike boxing or checkers.

I hold hamster fights down at my house on Saturday nights come on down the action is furocious!

are you serious??it's a question of free will and control. you train a person how to fight, and you're also training when to fight, you're putting them in control of the skills you've given them. when you train a dog to fight, all you're doing is teaching it how to kill, nothing else, they don't know anything about control, they want to kill anything that moves, simple as that. when's the last time u heard of a UFC fighter running wild in the street, mauling to death little kids? never, because a human being knows better.

pull your head out of your *** and take a look at the real world for once. there's sport, like the UFC, and there's brutal, cruel, pointless death, dog fighting.

Now, Pitbull fighting is not banned in the UFC as we have Andre "The Pitbull" Arlovski as the former Heavyweight Champion and a contender for the coveted belt.

"The Pitbull"

Isn't is great to see The Pitbull wearing the belt? Andre was interviewed at UFC 66 before the fight against Cruz and admitted to drinking heavily on the eve of his fights with Sylvia. Whether that's true or not, expect Arlovski to 'bring it' when he is chosen to fight Mirko Cro Cop in the months to come.
As Borat says, "Very Nice!".

Selling MMA is an uphill battle and we MMA fans are seeing small gains even as recent as NBC Sports adding a UFC section on their website.

Remember to ease your MMA doubter in slowly (to wear them down ;) and possibly start them off with the January 25th Spike TV UFC Fight Night 8 before selling the PPV idea.

MMA Fever is an excellent resource to get them up to speed (if I say so myself).

Fun for the whole family! so says Dana White - UFC President

  1. Pitbull fights are ban because they don't choose to fight. People elect for them to fight. People in the UFC chose to fight as a career and make good money doing it. How stupid are you?

  2. seriously as the human race are we stupid enough to have to ask this question...
Personally i think they are both wrong, but in my openion anyone who watches anything like that should be punished ...
years ago people got humor out of things that achieved something now we get amusement out of other peoples pain and suffering

we are a screwed up species and i think it should all be outlawed
