Pride Fighters are Better than UFC Fighters

I said it because it's true. Pride has real fighters with more skill than the UFC. The UFC is still a young organization that is yet to match the talent that Pride has in its ordinary fighters.

Why is it that Dana White is desperate for fresh skilled hired guns from Pride... because his current crop of UFC fighters need a real dose of reality and I don't mean another season of The Ultimate Fighter which, has diluted the UFC with mediocre to average fighters in comparison to Pride fighters. GSP excluded of course ;)

Last summer, the Pride Boss said his Pride fighters will devour the UFC fighters well, we will see when Cro Cop and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson show us on Saturday for UFC 67.

Dana White is smart to inject the UFC with a little Pride. It's about time!

Don't believe me? Check this out.

  1. This is certainly high lighted in the heavy weight division Greg.

Pride was loaded with the top heavy weight MMA fighters. The top two were Fedor and Kro Cop. There certainly are others no doubt.

Kro cop is now in the UFC and Fedor remains in Pride. I would love to see the two of these guy go at it again some day.

What the UFC does well is put on a great show and it will only get better this Saturday when we get to see Kro cop in the UFC.

Pride should continue to focus on expansion into North America and take notes from the UFC on how to put on a show.

Dana White made a good call by luring the Croatian Killer from Pride along with Rampage and the UFC money wagon will only improve.

    The Colonel.

  2. Fo Show!

Dana knows that he has to bring it for every UFC event and he should have bent over and kissed the right foot of Rashad Evans for saving Ultimate Fight Night 8 from disaster.

For anyone reading this comment and to support my claim that Pride has the better fighters, check out MMAWeekly.com which is the defacto authority on fighter rankings combining UFC and Pride.

It's intersting to me that Sean Sherk is dead last in the ranking for the lightweight division but then again, Gomi "The Fireball Kid" is the Fedor Emilianenko of his weight division.

Colonel, you know my take on these subjective rankings however, some people just need another opinion and they can get it right here.

  3. Here's my take...

Pride certainly has the edge when it comes to the Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight divisions. Pride has a deep talent pool for both divisions compared to the UFC’s B Class Fighters. Fedor is pretty much untouchable, he is solid and consistent. Big Nog is a submission king, he is agile and a decent boxer. I think a match between Josh Barnett and Tim Sylvia would be interesting to watch. Their styles will match well because Josh Barnett does not settle for plain stand up fights, he will take Sylvia down and ground and pound him. If Cro-Cop wins, the UFC should set up a match between the Euros. Arlovski VS Cro-Cop would be an amazing fight to watch. As far as the LHW division, Chuck is the man right now but he has never fought Vanderlei, Shogun or Arona, any of these guys will definitely give Chuck a run for his money. Other than Tito, Rampage and Babalu, all the rest are just B class fighters in the UFC, there is really no one in the UFC right now that has the skills to beat Chuck. With that being said, I would love to see Chuck fight a beefed up Anderson Silva, Rich Franklin or Brandon “the truth” Vera in an exhibition fight.

Middleweight Division: PRIDE = UFC (it’s a pretty boring division now that Rich is not the Champ..lol)

The UFC does have a more extensive talent pool in regards to the Welterweight and Lightweight Divisions. GSP is the man right now! He has beaten all the big names; I think the biggest threat to his reign right now is Diego Sanchez. I’m not sure why the UFC put Chris Lytle to go against Matt Hughes, it should have been Diego VS Matt and the winner gets a shot at GSP. Nick Diaz VS Karo would also be a good fight to watch. In regards to the Lightweight Division, I guess it’s all UFC since Pride doesn’t have one.
If I was the match maker, I would give Franca a title shot against Sherk, I would make Joe Stevenson fight Melvin Guillard and Jens Pulver fight Spencer Fisher.

In the end, we can’t really compare UFC and Pride since both organizations have different divisions and fight rules. I guess it just depends where your favourite fighter is fighting.
