Is GSP a Pussy?

Let me start off by saying that I am a GSP fan and I happen to be a huge supporter of Georges St.Pierre so any hatin' on me from GSP fans would be misdirected.

Direct the hate on Dana White for questioning GSP's ability to be mentally tough. Here are a couple quotes captured by the Houston Chronicle of Dana White on GSP:

"After watching that Matt Serra fight, I question Georges St-Pierre's mental ability to fight,"

"This kid was so nervous to fight Matt Serra, it was blowing my mind. I think that Georges St-Pierre needs to work on his mental game."

I was watching VHI Rock honors last night and the one and only "Price of Darkness" - Ozzy Osboure was being interviewed by the Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins in the green room before Ozzy took the stage to perform. Wicked version of "Crazy Train" I must add... sorry... I digress...

Taylor mentioned to Ozzy that he gets terrible stage fright before he steps out in front of thousands to perform so Oz acknowledged Taylor's candour and shared his own experience by mentioning that he gets stage fright too and is often terrified before he hits the stage.

Ozzy went on to say that it's s good thing to be a little scared because it means that you actually care. Hmmmm.... it means that you care? Yes, I can buy that because I too have had bouts of anxiety primarily due to the pressure I would place on myself to perform well (aside from the sack if ya know what i mean ;)

All of the GSP-Serra pre-fight interviews included GSP saying that he wasn't going to take his opponent lightly and that he has an obligation to his fans to put on a good show.

Anxiety is no joke IF that was what plagued GSP before stepping into the octagon with Serra. Personally, I didn't get the impression that GSP was under any strain however, anxiety sometimes isn't visible on the outside or that my bias wouldn't allow me to accept that GSP was dare I say it... scared.

Dana White is a dick for even opening his trap to slag on one of his fighters like that and deserves the Tool of the Day. Unfortunately, someone beat him to it today although I am sure that Dana White will get his day in the Tool Shed.

The CHRON article does mention that Josh Koscheck will be fighting GSP at UFC 74 so we'll see if GSP is really a pussy or not and hopefully, Dana can pull his head out of his ass long enough to see that GSP IS the real deal and will reclaim his title following the lengthy stall tactic of Hughes vs. Serra when TUF6 is completed.

I can't stand it when people rag on a fighter because of a loss... especially when that person is the friggin' President of the UFC... no class at all.

  1. I'm a big GSP fan as well and in no way is he a pussy, he may get tons of it but not himself. He was definately nervous going into the fight, if u watch the entrance of ufc 69 and compare it to his ufc 65 bout against hughes, hes more calm and relaxed against hughes... maybe he thought he didn't have anything to lose. for some reason in ufc 69 when he came out, he looked like he was dehydrated from maybe cutting weight and just didn't have the eyes of determination like the other event. but the fact is that he got caught against serra...thats the only reason he lost. he pretty much fought the same fight against hughes with even more kicks, if he didn't get caught he maybe able to pull off a tko in next minute or 2 but definately in round 2
