Reggie Warren Jr. is The Shiznit

Reggie Warren Jr. made the big time when Karo Parisyan thanked Reggie in his UFC 71 post fight interview with Joe Rogan in the octagon after he won a unanimous decision against Josh Burkman.

My apologies, I'm a bit behind in the Reggie Warren series so here are the two most recent videos of the baddest street fighter in the universe.

Reggie Warren Jr. Episode 4

It's been a slow few days for the MMA world from a news perspective and I'm not into the soap opera of whether Chuck Liddell is too sick or too healthy to fight at UFC 71 or whether Rampage will be fighting him or not or fight cards changes... YAWN!

Also, Frank Mir is not fighting at Ultimate Fight Night 9 on April 5th due to injury. What a boring UFN card without Frankie... well, at least we still have Melvin Guillard and that's about it.

Tim Sylvia admitted that he had a back injury going into UFC 68 against Randy Couture. Funny isn't it? Tim was able to bridge effectively while he was on the ground and on his back for 4 of the 5 rounds. Back injury? O.K. Tim, we believe you and hope you get better but I am sure your ego will take longer to heal from the damage it suffered not to mention your reputation... if that could even take a worse beating than it had prior to your fight with The Natural. Hey Tim, you're still a tool.

All boring lay and pray news over the past few days.

So, instead, I have another special treat for you MMA Fever fans with the 4th installment of the saga that lives inside the mind of Reggie Warren Jr. the street fighter extraordinaire.

Well, Reggie is up to his usual big fish stories that are absolutely hilarious and this time he targets Karo "The Heat" Parisyan.

Reggie Warren Jr. - Baddest Fighter in the World...

Well, if you ask him. Every now and again I like to mix things up with a little comedy and Reggie definitely fits the bill for that, just don't say it to his face. Reggie is a cross between Joe Dirt and Chuck Liddell with a passion for fighting anyone, anytime and anywhere. Whoever this guy is, he deserves his own prime time show because he is just too funny and on point with his MMA references.

If you remember "The Karate Kid" movie then you'll piss yourself laughing at this one.

There's nothing more romantic than a bottle of Jack Daniels and a heartfelt tune belted out over an electronic synthesizer trying to woo back yer chick. Priceless.

Marlon Sims Tells Another Story

Ok, this one is a pure gem for you if you've been watching TUF5. As you know, Marlon Sims was and still is bragging about the hundreds of street fights he's been in and I have to say that he tells his stories in great detail with overwhelming enthusiasm.

I can also see why the rest of the dudes in the house got tired of his story telling because Marlon is... shall we say... over the top.

In the story Marlon tells below which he left on the TUF Forum, he had me on the floor laughing the second when he mentioned a "Tiger Claw". Marlon Sims IS the real life Reggie Warren Jr.

Too much fun!

In case you missed the TUF5 backyard fight between Marlon Sims and Noah Thomas I've included it below Marlon's tall tale of street fightin' prowess.

By the way, did you know that Dana White signed Marlon and Noah to a UFC contract to fight the night of the TUF5 finale following both fighters exile from the TUF5 house?

Without further adieu... Mr.Marlon Sims, take it away!

Hey Roberj and everyone else, sorry I'm tardy for the story, but I do have a full time job and my girl is always hogging the computer for her clinical studdies. Well it's story time.....here goes.

It's Wednesday night in S.F. and I'm visiting my buddy at his bartending job on my night off from my restaurant "Le Colonial". My buddy Paul mixes a mean margarita, not to sweet, tart and refreshing the way a good margarita should be. I sit at his bar untill he closes down and then we adventured to the Mission district to Beauty bar where the clientel is usually modern attractive ladies and mellow hipster dudes. For some reason they started to promote a "Hip-Hop" night this particular wednesday. My buddy Paul and I thought nothing of it and went in, drank shots of what else.....Tequilla!! Chased by Margaritas of course. We were having a great time dancing with the ladies and listening to killer tunes. Apparently at some point, my buddy danced with the wrong girl and didn't know it. We went to the bar for a refresher shot and when my buddy bought the shot I looked down, grabbed my drink, and looked back at him to say "Cheers".........well my buddy was no longer there. He was falling to the floor about 5 feet behing me.

A small circle had formed behind us and when I quickly reached over and grabbed him from hitting the floor unconcious....it hit me. He had just been blind-sided and the reason the crowd had formed a circle was because they new before we (or just me) new what was happening. I picked my unconcious and very timid and mellow buddy off the floor and shoved him into the crowd to be swallowed up to safety and grit my teeth and turned and faced what was coming.....a fu@#ing hurricane of fists, feet and canes.

Before I knew what was going on I was tackled at the midsection and pushed back to the bar, where by this angry black man, was held strategicly in place (he grabed onto the bar railing behing me to secure his grip). All at once I had a guy kick me repeatedly in the nuts while anothe man grabbed me by the neck to start wailing on my beautifull (ha-ha-ha!) face over and over again untill he stepped aside to allow his big african-american friend to wind up and bust a cane over my left eye-temple region. Yes I saw it coming and there was nothing I could do. Bang! It breaks over my head. I was about to go out when addrenaline and booze completely took over and I was able to grab the dude who had me against the bar by his balls and SQUEEEEEEEZED untill he yelped in pain and let go long enouph for me to free my arms and put him in a headlock. When I turned him he blocked his buddies for a second and it was long enough to land 3 or 4 solid punches to his nose. He squirted blood out his face, screemed loudly and dropped out of my grip to the floor. Dude who had me by the throat jumped over his buddy grabbed my neck again and bent my back over the bar. He was big. I'd say at least 6' 2" by the way he god leverage on the bar. He reared back to drop a huge right hand on me. I was blind to him cause me head was facing the cieling from his grip and all I could do was feel his arm and hand around my neck. I reached up quickly, found his face, palm struck his jaw and came down with a Tiger Claw to his eye-sockets (old school Kenpo, never dies, just gets better with age : ) This was one continues sequence. I know I got him good cause There was blood on my hands and screemed like a little girl, turned away from me, and ran out the front.....Whew! I was finally out of his grip, and no one was holding me to the bar any-more.

I finally caught my base, stood strong in my fighters stance ready to go and was more focused now the addrenaline had worn some of the alchohol off. There were two big-ass brothers in there Fubu gear jumping around in front of me now. My buddy Paul, who I see in the backround now, has come to and was looking at me with his jaw wide open. One of the guys in front of me was the one yeilding the broken end of the cane he had broken over my head and the other dude was......well just a black man hoppin' around. I lunged forward with a Thai-style front kick at the guy with the cane-end and caught him dead-center in his chest.......he flew backwards off his feet onto the ground at the edge of the crowd that had formed a now bigger circle. His buddy lazilly (as if he was pretty tired at the point) threw a looooooping rite hand at me. I realized this was the ahem...gentleman kicking me in my gonads. As his slow a$$ punch was coming around the bend I let fly my own groin kick......I don't think he was expecting it......he went crosseyed as it landed squarly on his package. His knees crossed and he fell forward only to meet my left switch-kick on his way to the ground. He was laying in a pool of his own blood for a while. Dude with the cane stood up, put his hands on his knees took a deep breath and said "Yo man, we all cool. We gonna get up out this bi%&h. We got now beef wit' you. Your homie was hittin' on my girl and we was fellin' to put a hurtin' on yer boy......I'm out". He then turned and walked away. I let him cause', to tell you the truth, I was ****ed up and tired myself.

I could feel the blood coming out my lips, nose, head and eye-ball. My nuts felt like someone had been kicking them repeatedly and the alcohol wore off just in time for all the pain to set in at once. Anyways, I missed work for a week cause' of bruises, cuts and black eyes. Couldn't walk the next day, or day after that (the groin thing) and only one of the dudes was still there for the cops when they arrived. Oh well.....at least my buddy Paul made it out with just a sore jaw. He would of been killed by the hommies. They were an experienced rat-packing bunch of hoods who were gonna Monkey-stomp his head untill brains came out his ears. I was happy to help him. I'll do it again for him if he needs me, just like I'd do it for any of you out there in computer land.

Hope you all liked the story. I had fun remembering this one. It happened about 18 months ago. Well it's late here in Miami and I have to be up early for my morning training, but I wanted to get this story to you as I was late in the first place. Take care everyone. Peace out!!

The Karate Kid & MMA

It's been almost 23 years since The Karate Kid exploded on to the silver screen and instantly became a martial arts movie cult classic in North America and around the world. The Karate Kid movie was an inspiration to young kids who were bullied and overcame that fear by kicking the bully's ass much the same as our good friend Daniel LaRusso.

Following the movie's release and immediate success, Karate dojo's started to fill up in droves which also saw an increase in other martial arts training centers receiving the spill over traffic. I am sure that some of our favorite MMA fighters of today were also inspired by The Karate Kid movie to commence with their martial arts training.

It was an exciting time for martial arts on the big screen with Chuck Norris, Steven Segal, Jean Claude Van Damme (who can forget Frank Dux from the movie Bloodsport), and a bunch of others that came and went with the slew of Ninja movies that excited martial arts fans and movie lovers alike.

Arguably, the most famous movie of all the classic 1980's martial arts movies has to be, The Karate Kid

Here is the final scene of The Karate Kid with Daniel up against Johnny of Cobra Kai:

Sad to say (and watch) but Sean "Smoked" Salmon used the crane kick (made famous by the character Daniel LaRusso of the Karate Kid) unsuccessfully against Rashad Evans. It was embarrassing to watch but who knew he'd get knocked the fuck out for it in the next round. Mr.Miyagi was not impressed with the fillet of Salmon.

So, we fast forward a few years to the present and we have a very clever music video that ties in not only the Karate Kid theme but also the original cast members such as Johnny, Daniel LaRusso and the whole Cobra Kai team - very cool

Here is a guilty pleasure of mine, Reggie Warren Jr. explaining what his experience was like at the tournament with Daniel LaRusso and that guy that said, "Get him a body bag" - Killer stuff

GSP - Quote of the Day!

“I have something very specific that I’m going to do against Hughes,” St. Pierre said. “People are going to be shocked.”

This was quoted from a recent article posted by our friends at The Fight Network in a recent interview with Georges "Rush" St.Pierre.

I wonder what it could be?

A Reggie Warren Jr. Tiger Claw?

Maybe a Chuck Norris Roundhouse kick!

“I want to beat Hughes,” St. Pierre said. “Then after [that], I’m going to take care of Serra. That’s what I want to do. I’m a nice guy, but when I’m going to fight, I’m somebody else.”

Thems some fightin' wordz l'il chil'ren...

ST. PIERRE, KANG TO UNITE

Canadians Join Forces as UFC 79 Title Bout Nears

By Brian Knapp (bknapp@thefightnetwork.com)

Two of the mixed martial arts world’s brightest young superstars have decided to join forces north of the United States border.

Georges St. Pierre will train alongside former PRIDE stalwart Denis Kang for the first time, as he prepares for his interim UFC welterweight championship bout against Matt Hughes at UFC 79 “Nemesis” on Saturday, Dec. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. St. Pierre made the revelation Tuesday on Fight Network Radio.

Based out of the American Top Team, Kang (27-9-1) once went 21 fights without a loss. He has been rumored as a potential participant at K-1 “Premium 2007 Dynamite!!” on Monday, Dec. 31 in Japan.

“He’s always [been] somebody I respected a lot,” St. Pierre said. “He called me, because he has a fight coming up at the end of December – probably. I’m fighting, as well, so we’re going to train together.”

St. Pierre (14-2, 8-2 UFC) indicated he would remain close to his Montreal, Quebec home while he gears up for his third – and perhaps final – match with Hughes, a future UFC Hall-of-Famer and one of only two men to beat him. Nathan Marquardt and Keith Jardine, two of his teammates from Jackson’s Submission Fighting in Albuquerque, N.M., will join St. Pierre in Canada.

St. Pierre defeated Hughes by second-round TKO to capture the UFC welterweight crown last November, only to relinquish it in a stunning upset loss to Matt Serra five months later. Ironically, it was Serra’s back injury that paved the way to a rubber match with Hughes (41-5, 15-3 UFC). Serra withdrew from his scheduled title defense against Hughes last week.

“It was the best scenario I could wish for,” St. Pierre said. “I was in pretty amazing shape. I was training for it, just in case that scenario happened. When I learned Serra got hurt, I right away called my manager and told her if [the UFC] needs somebody to step up, I’m ready for it … I’m up for the challenge. My manager let the UFC know, and the UFC called us back.”

Almost universally received as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, St. Pierre rebounded from his TKO loss to Serra to beat rising contender Josh Koscheck at UFC 74 in August. The 26-year-old French Canadian also holds victories over BJ Penn, Frank Trigg, Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Sean Sherk, all of them former or current titleholders. He vowed to wow the crowd in the third chapter of his trilogy with Hughes.

“I have something very specific that I’m going to do against Hughes,” St. Pierre said. “People are going to be shocked.”

An eventual rematch with Serra, provided he recovers from his injury, remains tucked in the back of St. Pierre’s mind. For now, his focus rests solely on Hughes, who submitted him with an armbar at UFC 50 in 2004.

“I want to beat Hughes,” St. Pierre said. “Then after [that], I’m going to take care of Serra. That’s what I want to do. I’m a nice guy, but when I’m going to fight, I’m somebody else.”

***Jens Pulver (Gold & purple trunks) & B.J. Penn (Blue trunks) are the Lightweight coaches***

The Ultimate Fighter 5 is set to begin immediately following the SPIKE TV Premiere of the Ultimate Fight Night Live at The Palms Hotel and Casino's brand-new arena "The Pearl", Thursday, April 5th. Featuring Joe "Daddy" Stevenson vs. Melvin Guillard, Kenny Florian vs. Dokonjonosuke Mishima and more.

UFC 69 will follow on April 7th with the return of GSP and UFC 70 will air for free on SPIKE TV on April 21st and.... whew!

From Inside Fights:

Cast of TUF 5

The Coaches
Jens "Little Evil" Pulver - A former UFC Lightweight champion known for his punching power, a left hook in particular. His return to the Octagon did not go according to plan, losing in 48 seconds to Joe Lauzon. More on that in a bit.

"The Prodigy" B.J. Penn - A former UFC Welterweight champion, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter known for his sick level of flexibility. Similar to another Hawaiian, Joe Riggs, Penn has fought in several weight classes, moving up as high as Light-Heavyweight.

As is tradition, the coaches will fight one another, possibly to determine an opponent for current Lightweight champion Sean Sherk, who should be returning from medical suspension around now. Pulver and Penn have fought before, way back in early 2002, when Pulver retained the Lightweight championship by decision. Five years is a long time, and it'll be interesting to see how these two have changed since then.

The Fighters
Fighter names were listed on DeathValleyDriver.com and then cross-checked with Sherdog.

Allan Berube - There's apparently about 100 different ways to spell this guy's name - it's even inconsistent on the official records of his two fights. Berubie won both fights by submission in the first round, so this tells us... nothing, really.

Nathan Diaz - Nathan is the younger brother of Nick "Gomi killer" Diaz, and like his brother, practices Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Unlike his brother, Nathan (who is 4" shorter) has won the majority of his fights by tapout and seems to prefer the ground game.

Robert Emerson - Emerson is a Vale Tudo fighter who spent the early part of his career losing a lot of decisions, including one to Jens Pulver. Other notable losses came at the hands of Dokonjonosuke Mishima and Melvin Guillard.

Manvel Gamburyan - Manvel apparently hasn't fought professionally since early 2004, and as Mikey Burnett showed, not fighting for a long time isn't necessarily a good thing. His last three opponents, at least, have some name recognition to UFC fans - Sam Morgan (W), Jorge Santiago (W) and Sean Sherk (L).

Brian Geraghty - What are the odds of there being two Brian Geraghtys? One's an actor who had a part in Jarhead, the other has a 17-9-1 record as a fighter. It's probably a good thing that this guy is the fighter.

Corey Hill - Corey has had all of one (ONE!) fight as a mixed martial artist. Not a lot of information on this guy. (He's the tall dude in the photo - MMA Fever)

Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon - Yep, this is the guy who was last seen handing target=new>Pulver a TKO loss. If I were to guess, Lauzon was brought in to spice up the "reality" element of the show, but given that TKO, I'd say that he's no pushover.

Gray Maynard - Oh, hey, another guy with a 2-0 record. At this point I'm wondering where the Sam Stouts, Mark Hominicks and Ivan Menjivars are (even though the latter two are flyweights). Hell, they could've thrown Florian or Danny Abaddi back in there. OK... maybe not Abaddi.

Brandon "The Murderer" Melendez - Gotta love that nickname. Melendez fights under Jeremy Horn, and recently suffered a four-match losing streak before rolling over a couple of tomato cans in 2006.

Cole Miller - Cole has a nice 11-2 record (8 by submission) and fights with American Top Team. The most surprising thing? His manager is listed as "Captain Miserable", Charles McCarthy.

Gabe Ruediger - Gabe is a former WEC champion who had the misfortune of meeting the heavy hands of Melvin Guillard, getting knocked out via a body punch that looked even more painful in slow motion. Gabe's most recent losses have come against Guillard and Hermes Franca, so there's no shame there.

"Mr. Indestructible" Marlon Sims - Sims is a former Muay Thai fighter, and at 33 is a bit older than many of the fighters in the house. With a nickname like Mr. Indestructible, I'm expecting Sims to get a lot of focus in the "reality" portion of the show. If he has a "Mr. I" costume (yes, I know the I in that case stands for Immortal) he'll instantly become my favourite fighter ever.

Noah "The Red" Thomas - Sporting a 10-4 record, Noah Thomas has fought mainly in the Colorado area. His most recent fights have ended up in submission victories, and hopefully the Tapout/KO bonus will encourage him to go for more of those during the show.

Andy Wang - Sherdog only has one Andy Wang listed, and he's a 5-6 Middleweight from Hawaii. If this is the right guy, then 10 of 11 fights going the distance says that I'm not gonna like watching him fight.

Wayne "The Wayneiac" Weems - Weems immediately earns my dislike thanks to a nickname similar to Tim Sylvia. Maybe Randy Couture could smack him around for five rounds as well. He's got a 12-2 record fighting in the Midwest, and with his boxing/wrestling background, I could see him becoming a pet project for Pulver.

"Handsome" Matt Wiman - Matt Wiman was last seen on the receiving end of a flying knee by Spencer Fisher. He made the mistake of letting his guard down and paid for it by becoming highlight reel fodder. He'll be looking for redemption.

======================================================
One last thing, Nick Diaz's brother, Nate Diaz is alive and well despite reports from Reggie Warren Jr. admitting responsibility for his death at a Mexican restaurant. (To those without humor as a part of their lives, this part is a joke, funny ha ha, get it?) Reggie kills, check him out here as well for Episode 3.
