According to The Fight Network, Chuck Liddell's camp has asked Dana White and Joe Silva to set up a future bout against the Pride Light Heavyweight star, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua as early as December 29 for UFC 79 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Speculation about Chuck's MMA future was answered by this quote from Chuck's long time trainer, John Hackleman:
“He’s already said he’ll be back in the gym next Monday,” “He’s going to fight again, hopefully as soon as possible, maybe in December. We’re looking at ‘Shogun.’”
In regards to what went wrong with Chuck's split decision loss to Keith Jardine, Hackleman had this to say:
“I think things went wrong with Keith Jardine. Keith Jardine came out and fought like a freakin’ killer," says Hackleman. "Chuck just couldn’t pull the trigger in time and was just a hair off and Jardine’s timing was perfect.”

One last chance for Chuck I guess or another 500, 000.
ReplyDeleteI hope Chuck turns it around.
I expect a good fight from both.
I am a long time Pride fan and I just think that UFC will not work for those guys such as; Cro cop, Shogun, Wanderlei, Dan Henderson etc. I bet if the UFC fighters had to fight at Pride with PRIDE bad ass rules they would get their asses whopped.
ReplyDeleteIt’s just an opinion of a fan that loves to watch the maddest sport on earth!!!
I saw this post about UFC 76 that indicates, to me, that Shogun is about the only 205 lber that chuck would have a shot against.
ReplyDeleteI still say that Chuck should move to HW to fight for Couture's strap.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Chuck needs to get into a new camp.
Those pesky unified rules don't allow the best that Shogun and Wandy can be in a fight.
